Lucas Monsalve

Facility Manager

Born and raised in Colombia, Lucas was naturally drawn to exploring and adventure. A curiosity that would slowly lead to a wide range of activities to challenge the mind and the body. From chess and kickboxing to basketball and snowboarding. Having grown up around people that continued to slow down in life people would ask how he had so much energy all the time. In such, Lucas found his favorite quote “a body in motion stays in motion”

Having been a victim of bullying in the first years of living in the states Lucas became a black belt in karate. Leading to a life of discipline that would trickle into his studies and work ethic. This would grow a fire inside of him to help others be fit, strong of mind, and able to defend themselves. In 2014, officially becoming martial arts instructor and assisted many women’s self defense seminars in Miami, Florida. In 2018 Lucas became a fitness instructor to be in the service of others. Believing that you should always be of strong mind and a healthy body regardless of whether you’re seventeen or seventy.

When Lucas isn’t at the studio, he loves to run with his dogs, teach self defense, or ride around town on his motorcycle. His goals are to stay strong to continue living life to its fullest potential.

“I enjoy what I do. I keep people accountable. I help people become strong of mind, become strong in spirit. I help people realize they are capable. In doing so they can physically reach their goals.”

Maryann Cason

Personal Trainer

After graduating from San Diego State University, black belt and martial arts teacher, Maryann, continued a career in coaching and added to her repertoire with slow-motions strength training.

Maryann has been training in martial arts for 12 years and has taught private lessons and group classes for the past 9 years. Within just a few months of her own slow-motion strength training program she’s noticed significant improvements in her tai chi forms and the movements feel much easier.

“Overall my martial arts skills have improved significantly since starting my training at the Perfect workout.”

Now a Certified Personal trainer at the Perfect Workout, Maryann loves that she gets to safely push people past what they think their limit is.

“I challenge my members in a way that is encouraging while providing corrections on their form for safety. While training with me you can expect to take your weight lifting experience to a whole new level!”

Maryann believes training at The Perfect Workout is a great investment to improve your health in a unique and effective way.

“The environment is positive and encouraging. The trainers will tailor each workout to fit your specific needs and goals. Safety is our number one priority so you will still get an awesome and safe workout even with current or previous aches and pains.”

One of her members in particular recently expressed that she has felt stronger than ever before!

I enjoy getting to build that relationship with each client. Everyone has different needs and challenges but one thing that connects us all together is our passion for improving our health and well being.”

Zach Wagonis

Personal Trainer

Zach is Certified Personal Trainer and coach who has been involved in sports his entire life. He competed in water polo and swimming throughout childhood and as an adult at Palomar College. When he began training others at the University of California in Davis, he quickly found that he loves to help people achieve their goals in fitness and athletic endeavors. Now in San Diego, he’s helping others do just that at The Perfect Workout. He believes that two important aspects of leading a healthy life are to always strive to learn new things and have fun during the journey.

Bia Gasparetto

Personal Trainer

Bia fell in love with strength training and fitness in college. Since then, she spent much of her time exercising and motivating her friends to experience benefits of strength training.

Her passion for helping people fueled her decision to become a behavioral health coach at UCSD. But after college, Bia found it more and more challenging to fit her workouts into life with a full-time job.

Bia felt like a big part of her was missing from not being able exercise regularly. She needed a time-efficient solution, and ultimately found slow-motion strength training.

She fell in love with the efficiency and effectiveness of this style of weight lifting and wanted to become a part of sharing it with others.

Bia earned the opportunity to become a personal trainer at The Perfect Workout, where she combines both her passion for strength training AND helping people become healthier, better versions of their selves.

Better yet, she now understands that even with the busyness of life, you can get better benefits from slow-motion strength training, 20 minutes, twice a week so she never needs to give up her love for working out!

Amelia Crenshaw

Personal Trainer

Once Amelia discovered a love for fitness, she knew she wanted to turn her passion into a profession. She instantly made the career change to become a Personal Trainer. After finding The Perfect Workout, she felt like the 1-on-1 strength training approach in semi-private studios were an ideal fit for her personal training style. Amelia hit the ground running, and poured everything into her certification, and eventually her clients. After only three months of being a trainer, Amelia was promoted to Facility Manager at the Mission Valley studio and has been training there ever since.

Amelia has kept up her own regimen of working out for 20 minutes, twice a week at The Perfect Workout and it’s made a big difference for her health. “I gained 50 lbs. with my first two pregnancies. But with my third pregnancy, after I started at The Perfect Workout, I only gained 9 lbs. I left the hospital smaller than when I first got pregnant!”

Now, she’s getting stronger with every workout, and she loves discovering how her body responds to each exercise. Her own personal experience in the workouts helps her bring even more knowledge to her training sessions with clients.

Amelia loves connecting with clients and digging deep with them to get clear on their specific goals. Not just their basic fitness goals, but their vision of who they will be once they’ve hit those goals. That vision is the ultimate reason why they want to get in shape and make a change in their life. “There’s nothing more fulfilling to me than helping people mentally and physically. I really want to get to know the people I train, and watching their journey is so gratifying.”

For Amelia, investing in her trainers is one of her top priorities as well. “The Mission Valley studio is known for being close. We’re like a big family.” She makes sure everyone feels uplifted, supported, and has the tools they need to grow.

“The people I’ve met at The Perfect Workout have become some of my closest friends. Seeing my clients and fellow trainers evolve through fitness inspires me every day, and I’m in this for the long run.”

Diana Ferrer

Personal Trainer

Diana Ferrer has been with The Perfect Workout since 2007, making her the longest-tenured Personal Trainer in the company. She holds a degree from San Diego State University in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Fitness, Health and Nutrition, and a Minor in Dance. Aside from improving her own strength, metabolism and endurance, Diana has helped many clients lose dozens of pounds over the years.

One of Diana’s biggest success stories is a client named Joyce. “She originally joined our studio to gain more strength and maneuver better in her daily activities. It was hard for her to walk upstairs, and she needed to lose weight. She has now lost over 30 pounds and is so much more mobile. It’s been very motivating to me to be able to help Joyce and other clients like her. ”Diana’s main passion is helping her clients. “I love being at work because there’s such positive energy! Everybody is happy to be there, both clients and trainers. I especially enjoy the long-term relationships that develop. So many of our clients stick with the program and become our friends. ”Slow-Motion strength training has also helped Diana improve her own health and fitness. This unique method of exercise has helped her maintain her lean weight for years. Her metabolism is better now than it was when she was a teenager. “I love the slow-motion method I wouldn’t do any other form of weight training.”

Diana believes the best part about being a trainer at The Perfect Workout is developing relationships with clients over the long-term, and helping them increase their strength and ability to do everyday activities. She loves when clients relate their results to real-life situations. “I’ve had people tell me, ‘I used to have to use two arms to open my sliding door, but now I can do it with one hand!’, and ‘I feel more energy every day compared to before I started the slow-motion method’ and ‘My cholesterol went down since I started and my HDL’s are up!’ Those are the things that get me excited.”

When Diana isn’t in the studio, she is on stage singing with her band, dancing or acting. She dreams of landing a big role in a movie someday. For now, she is helping others make their fitness dreams come true, and her main goal is to see more people enjoy the positive effects of The Perfect Workout. “We love seeing people come in on a regular basis, and when they do, they get results!”
