Training, new equipment address sheriff’s body camera problems exposed after deputy shot 2 teens: A fatal shooting of two unarmed teens in a stolen car by an Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputy in September made public problems with handling of dashboard and body-worn cameras.The shooting wasn’t captured on the equipment because the deputy failed to activate either camera. Also, the department didn’t set up equipment to turn on cameras automatically. Five months later, the sheriff’s office has updated its body camera policy, activated technology so the cameras will turn on automatically more often, and retrained all road patrol deputies on the new expectations and technologies.

Woman, son arrested: Thirty-six people have put up money or property for bail bonds to stay out of jail in Onondaga County only to find out the bonds were fraudulent.
